Richa Goswami exits HSBC

Richa Goswami (pictured), chief customer and marketing officer at HSBC will be stepping down from her role. She joined the company in 2020 as global head of customer and international, wealth and personal banking at HSBC after spending five years at J&J.

Goswami told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, "I have left HSBC to pursue an external opportunity and have loved my time with HSBC and very excited about my next adventure on the global stage."

Goswami confirmed her departure on a LinkedIn post, saying she had one of the most memorable times at HSBC. This was Goswami’s second stint with HSBC as she was also previously helming the role of  SVP, global wealth management at HSBC Hong Kong from 1997 to 2009. She has worked across global markets such as New York, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Some of the leadership positions she held include chief marketing and proposition officer, vice president, digital banking and propositions, and others. She then left HSBC to join Standard Chartered, and stayed for four years.

After Standard Chartered, Goswami joined J&J where she built her profile globally as she took on the role of global head of digital for a year. Prior to that, she was the global head of content, creative excellence and digital platforms. According to her LinkedIn, Goswami was tasked to lead the digital transformation for the consumer business globally, as well as manage teams that will shape and execute the company’s disruption agenda on technology, partnerships, innovation and marketing. Goswami also helped to build digital IQ, creatives, and content for J&J. 

Goswami also confirmed her departure to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE sharing that her short time at HSBC was well spent and she'll be taking some personal time before pursuing new opportunities in the near future.

HSBC also saw another senior departure earlier this year. Suresh Balaji exited the role of chief marketing officer at HSBC APAC after staying at the company for 17 years, having worked for eight roles at four locations. 

Prior to being CMO, he was managing director and global head of marketing, HSBC Life. He also spent over five years as managing director and regional head of marketing for APAC at HSBC where he led marketing for 14 countries with a team of over 250 marketing practitioners for HSBC’s Retail and Wealth Management business in Asia Pacific to develop strategies that brand equity and business growth.
