Resorts World Genting (RWG) has kicked off its Chinese New Year 2026 celebrations with the launch of “CNY in the sky”, a resort-wide festive campaign that blends cultural storytelling, immersive entertainment and elevated experiences high above the clouds.

At the heart of the campaign is RWG’s Chinese New Year 2026 brand film, which sets the tone for the season by weaving together time-honoured traditions with a refreshed, cinematic approach to festive storytelling. Rooted in themes of reunion, renewal and shared joy, the film anchors the resort’s broader festive narrative while staying true to the cultural moments that define the Lunar New Year.

The campaign launch also marked a milestone moment for the resort, with the Genting SkyWorlds Immersive Studio officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the country’s highest-altitude immersive attraction. The recognition underscores RWG’s continued focus on immersive entertainment and creative storytelling as part of its destination-led experience.

A key highlight of the brand film is the introduction of Tian Ma, the official Chinese New Year 2026 mascot and the newest member of Genting’s Highland Heroes family. As the Horse zodiac for the year, Tian Ma symbolises progress, renewal and forward momentum, values closely aligned with both the festive season and RWG’s brand positioning. To extend the character beyond screen, limited-edition Tian Ma plush toys will be made available exclusively to Genting Rewards members via redemption and purchase.

“Chinese New Year is about coming together, reflecting on the past year and looking ahead with hope together,” said Spencer Lee, executive vice president of sales, marketing and public relations at Resorts World Genting. “With ‘CNY in the Sky’, we aim to celebrate these traditions in a way that feels meaningful and memorable, while creating festive moments that bring families and loved ones together.”

Guests attending the launch were also given a preview of the Chinese New Year-themed immersive video experience at the Immersive Studio, featuring seasonal storytelling and festive visuals presented within a high-altitude setting. The experience will be open to Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park guests from 9 January to 3 March 2026.

Beyond the brand film and immersive attraction, “CNY in the sky” unfolds across RWG through a calendar of festive dining, entertainment and retail experiences. These include reunion dinners, seasonal feasts across the resort’s restaurants, Chinese New Year Eve countdown shows, prosperity performances, cultural showcases and festive bazaars at Chin Swee Caves Temple and SkyAvenue. The celebrations are complemented by traditional elements such as Yee Sang offerings, lion dance parades and family-friendly activities throughout the festive period.

The campaign concept and brand film were developed by Ampersand Advisory, following a competitive pitch involving multiple agencies. The independent advisory led the creative idea and execution for the festive campaign, working closely with film director Chew Boon Wai to bring the narrative to life, and production was handled by Mastermind.

Last October, Burger & Lobster at RWG came back in the spotlight, with a campaign that blends indulgent dining with the irresistible pull of K-drama storytelling. Titled “Fusion flavors meet K-Drama vibes”, the campaign reintroduced Burger & Lobster as a destination dining icon by turning food into theatre, and cravings into conversations. It was developed together with dentsu Malaysia.

In July 2025, RWG partnered with Naga DDB Tribal to launch Juara Genting ('Genting champion'), its first-ever creator-led reality series. Aired exclusively on TikTok, the six-part show puts a fresh spin on the reality genre by placing popular content creators, such as Cupcake Aisyah, Sharina Richie, SRG Kramm, and SRG Sekys, at the heart of high-energy challenges within the resort’s theme park attractions.
