R/GA has named Tuomas Peltoniemi (pictured), EVP, managing director, APAC, effective 3 January 2019. In his new role, he will oversee R/GA's offices in Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney, Melbourne and Tokyo.
He previously served as president, Asia - digital and innovation at TBWA\\ Digital Arts Network, where he was responsible for growing the team's digital and technology capabilities and spearheading innovation across the region. Prior to that, Peltoniemi was head of Digital Arts Network in Singapore and managing director and partner of digital agency !NOOB in Helsinki.
Peltoniemi has worked at the intersection of technology, strategy and creativity across three continents and for nearly two decades. He is also a passionate supporter of developing new businesses and talent through mentoring early stage technology startups and lecturing on digital marketing for various MBA programs.
According to him, R/GA's "unique service offering" and promise of transformation at speed are perfectly placed to respond to today's client needs. “I’m really looking forward to building on this and taking on the challenge expanding our offering, relationships and footprint," he said.
Bob Greenberg, founder, chairman and CEO of R/GA, added that Peltoniemi is a "transformation pioneer" who understands how to implement change ahead of disruption.
“His career has evolved so similarly to R/GA’s own evolution that it feels like working together was simply a matter of time. We could not be more excited that time has come and I am confident that Peltoniemi will lead our APAC region to even greater success," Greenberg added.
Meanwhile, TBWA\\ also confirmed Peltoniemi's departure from the agency. President Ian Pearman said, “It is with thanks and our best wishes to Tuomas as he leaves the Collective. Peltoniemi joined TBWA\Asia with the responsibility to deepen our digital and innovative capabilities, and now leaves having helped establish one of the leading agencies in the region. We know he’ll be a success in his new role.”
