Media and events company Questex Asia will be closing its Asia media and publication division. These includes publications based in Singapore and Hong Kong such as TelecomAsia, NetworkWorldAsia, Enterprise Innovation, CFO Innovation and Computerworld Hong Kong.
Questex has confirmed to Marketing on the closure of its Asia media division and that the employees will exit, effective 31 May. It has yet to comment on the number of employees affected by the closure. In a statement to Marketing, a Questex Asia spokesperson said the company is adopting an event first strategy in Asia. It will continue to operate its Asia event business, based out of the Singapore office. The Hong Kong office will be closed down as part of this restructure. Catherine Wong, senior vice president, will continue to lead the Questex Asia team.
In March, Questex Asia reorganised its business into five key growth-oriented industry sectors – beauty and wellness, travel, hospitality, pharma and technology. Questex Asia’s properties include over 100 digital media products and over 50 conferences, tradeshows and events, as well as a range of business information and intelligence products.
Wong said honing the focus in Asia will allow the company to devote more resources toward its business strategy. “Our highest priority is our customers and our employees. They look to us to help them drive business goals and their careers. We continue to support them with the right brands, the right audience, the right solutions/services as well as the right support,” she added.
Meanwhile, the editorial team from TelecomAsia have also confirmed the closure of the magazine on Facebook. The team thanked readers and informed that the newsletter will go out until 31 May. Meanwhile, the senior editor at CFO Innovation also published a farewell note for readers on the page.
