Publicis Media Hong Kong has appointed Cathy Cheng (pictured) as managing director of business development, as confirmed to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

Covering Hong Kong and China outbound business, Cheng reports to Lawrence Yang, CEO, Publicis Media Hong Kong. The role is created to meet the rising demand for sophisticated, integrated media solutions across the Greater Bay Area and China's outbound corridors.

In this newly created role, Cheng will spearhead business development initiatives to fuel Publicis Media’s expansion in Hong Kong and capitalise on China's outbound opportunities.

Leveraging her extensive expertise in strategic media planning, account leadership, and cross-functional collaboration, she will craft innovative, client-focused media solutions, integrating creative, data, eCommerce, and partnership strategies to drive impactful results.

Prior to Publicis, Cheng had spent a decade with Mindshare Hong Kong, most recently as its general manager. During her tenure, she had worked with renowned brands such as MTR, China Mobile, Manulife, amongst others. Before Mindshare, she had helmed the role of business director at Carat Hong Kong.

Cheng said, “I’m thrilled to join Publicis Media in Hong Kong and contribute to its bold growth vision. I’m eager to collaborate with our dynamic teams to deliver innovative media solutions that drive measurable outcomes and propel our clients’ business success."

Back in May, Junjie Shi was named managing director and head of Publicis Omni Performance China. Shi brings to the role more than 13 years of experience in digital marketing and eCommere, having worked at companies including Xiaoxiandun, Shanghai Jahwa, ByteDance, and GroupM China.

Meanwhile, Sean Huang  joined as general manager, Publicis Media China and will oversee capability development and partnerships. Huang has over 18 years of experience in brand marketing, channel management and operations, having worked at companies including China Ping An, and Rolex China.

While in Australia, Publicis Groupe launched Influential in Australia, uniting its local social, content and creator offerings under a single banner as the holding company leans into creator commerce and influencer capabilities.

The move follows Publicis’ acquisition of Influential in July 2024 and Captiv8 in May 2025, deals that brought a large creator network and AI-driven tooling into the Groupe’s stack.

Influential Australia will sit across Publicis’ media, creative and communications shops to offer an end-to-end product spanning strategy, creator identification, production and paid social. Publicis positions the offer as a centre of excellence for existing clients and new business.
