Publicis Communications beefs up leadership in Beijing

Publicis Communications Greater China has appointed Oliver Xu as CEO of Publicis Worldwide, Publicis Vivid, MSLGROUP, and TEAM ONE in Beijing. Meanwhile,  Nuno Wu was named to the role of executive creative director, becoming Xu’s creative partner in Beijing.

Under the new arrangement, each agency brand will retain its own identity and culture, continuing to grow and expand while also benefitting from access to new capabilities at scale, across a group of more than 200 professionals.

Xu belongs to the first generation of Chinese ad men, having about 25 years of experience in Beijing and working in senior leadership roles at several prestigious agencies, including J Walter Thompson, Saatchi & Saatchi, and BBDO. Most recently, he served as MD & Chief Integration Officer at Grey.

“It is great to come back to Publicis Groupe and I am very excited about this new role, which will enable us to bring the best of the Groupe’s capabilities together and do great work for our clients by providing an effective, one-stop communications solution,” Xu said.

Wu has been in the ad industry for more than 25 years. Most recently, he was executive creative director at both VML and Jung Von Matt.

He said, “My work covered many industries in both Taiwan and China mainland, particularly when it comes to automotive brands over the past ten years, I look forward to contributing it to more clients. It is a joy for me to join Publicis Groupe and I am excited to help our clients accomplish more excellent things in this new era of advertising.”
