PropertyGuru has appointed Bjorn Sprengers as chief marketing officer to spearhead marketing strategies to further build on the group’s brand and reputation.
Sprenger’s responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of business, consumer and online marketing, including corporate and external communications.
Steve Melhuish, co-founder and chief executive officer of PropertyGuru Group, said Sprengers’ extensive experience in branding, strategic and tactical marketing will help to further increase the brand position, market leadership and redefine the user experience for its property seekers and property advertiser clients.
Prior to this newly established position, Sprengers spent 11 years at Philips heading marketing for Philips’ consumer lifestyle sector in Southeast Asia, where he was responsible for the company’s strong performance in competitive categories such as personal care and kitchen appliances.
The latest executive hire comes after PropertyGuru recorded a record 96% increase in revenue and 60% increase in internet users in 2012 driven by marketing initiatives, product innovation and continued focus on providing an excellent experience for home buyers and property advertisers.
The appointment took place after a six-month global executive search and follows the recent chief finance officer, head of human resources and Malaysia country manager appointments.
