Pounce Marketing sets up shop in Malaysia following major rebrand

Marketing agency, Pounce Marketing, has rebranded to Pounce Agency, in conjunction with the setup of its new office in Malaysia.

Helmed by CEO, Simran Kaur and COO, Raghav Mathur, the agency that started out in 2017 in Sydney is expanding to the Asia-Pacific region, with the new office in Malaysia being the agency’s second headquarters. This expansion, according to the agency, will allow them to support its Asia-based clients across Europe, ANZ and Asia.

Kaur took to LinkedIn to share her excitement about the new office, stating that the office is a “major milestone in Pounce’s global growth journey.” According to media reports, Kaur said about the rebrand that it was time for the agency to flip the script, and that she hoped that the rebrand would be a reflection of the brand’s change in focus from creating work that impresses people to work that generates impact and pushes boundaries.

She continued in her LinkedIn post, saying that the group of technology people, marketers, creatives and strategists at the agency are armed with local insights, which will aid it in delivering the desired results for its Malaysian clients.

Pounce’s LinkedIn page has been teasing the rebrand for the past week, providing insight into what it took for the brand to undergo the major change. “Doing our rebrand made us revisit our brand promise. And we barely recognised ourselves. We've grown so much since launching that our brand identity almost felt like a catfish profile promising an ambitious but juvenile agency finding their feet,” it stated.

This is not the first we have seen of agencies setting up shop in Malaysia this year. Recently, Hoffman Agency expanded into Malaysian shores which was a strategic movement for the agency in the region.

According to Hoffman agency, Malaysia represented a significant opportunity for the agency which is a rare technology and integrated marketing communications specialist. This is especially true considering the fact that in 2022, Malaysia’s technology sector grew nearly 10%, along with the fastest growth rate in over 20 years, with GDP increasing 8.7%.

Within Malaysia itself, we have seen new agencies prop up as of late too. For instance, industry veterans Ashvin Anamalai and Dan Iskandar set up DNA Creative Communications. Anamalai said that DNACC was formed with the intention of bringing together an immense powerhouse of talents in the hopes of making an undeniable impact in the local advertising and marketing industry. “We strive to show that there is a space for Malaysian-owned agencies to not only compete, but to also score big against the bigger boys,” Anamalai explained.
