Pos Malaysia celebrates VM2026 with collectible stamp series

As Malaysia gears up for Visit Malaysia 2026, Pos Malaysia is turning the country's tourism story into a collectible experience with the launch of a special commemorative stamp series celebrating the nation's heritage, culture and iconic destinations.

The collection was unveiled at the historic Sultan Abdul Samad Building, with the launch officiated by tourism minister Tiong King Sing alongside Fiona Liao, group chief marketing officer of Pos Malaysia.

Created in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, the stamp issue aims to showcase the country's diversity and encourage both local and international travellers to explore destinations across all 13 states and the federal territories.

According to Liao, the collection serves as more than a philatelic release. "This special stamp issue is more than a collectible. It is a meaningful way for us to share Malaysia's story with the world," she said.

"Each design captures the richness of our heritage, the diversity of our culture, and the unique experiences that define our nation. Through our extensive network, we are proud to support Visit Malaysia 2026 by connecting people and places, and by bringing Malaysia closer to the global community."

The collection features a curated selection of some of Malaysia's most recognisable landmarks, cultural symbols and natural attractions. Among them are Langkawi Island, Penang Hill, Cameron Highlands, A Famosa, Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque and the Petronas Twin Towers.

Other featured icons include traditional cultural elements such as the Wau Bulan, as well as wildlife symbols including the Proboscis Monkey and the Rhinoceros Hornbill.

Collectively, the designs are intended to reinforce Malaysia's positioning as a destination defined by cultural diversity, heritage and natural beauty.

Beyond the visuals, Pos Malaysia has incorporated several premium finishing techniques to enhance the stamps' collectability. These include die-cut elements, heart-shaped perforations on the miniature sheet and spot UV finishing on selected design features.

The miniature sheet also features Wira and Manja, the official mascots of the VM2026 campaign. Inspired by the Malayan Sun Bear, the mascots highlight Malaysia's biodiversity while drawing attention to wildlife conservation efforts.

The complete commemorative folder set is priced at RM62.60 and includes two se-tenant stamp sets, a miniature sheet, first-day covers, postcards and a commemorative folder.

In addition, Pos Malaysia is introducing a special VM2026 stamp activation across 13 general post offices nationwide and Pejabat Pos Kangar. Visitors will be able to collect commemorative stamps and use them on postcards, journals and stamp passports as keepsakes of their travels.

The activation is expected to run throughout the VM2026 campaign period, combining tourism with philately as a way to encourage travellers to engage more deeply with Malaysia's destinations and cultural stories.

The release forms part of the broader Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative, which seeks to position the country as an inclusive and culturally rich destination for global travellers.

For Pos Malaysia, the campaign also continues a long-standing tradition of using stamps as storytelling tools, turning everyday postal items into platforms that celebrate the nation's history, culture and identity.

The full collection is available from 8 June at 90 philatelic bureaus nationwide, selected post offices and through Pos Malaysia's online store, while stocks last.

This June, Pos Malaysia also launched "Parrots of Malaysia", a commemorative stamp issue that aims to spotlight Malaysia’s protected parrot species while raising awareness of the country’s natural heritage and wildlife conservation efforts.

Developed in collaboration with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN), the collection brings together philately and conservation, reflecting both parties’ shared commitment to preserving Malaysia’s biodiversity and ecological balance.
