PLUS' Syed Mohammed Idid helms new title as it reshuffles stakeholder engagement unit

PLUS Malaysia has appointed Syed Mohammed Idid as head of corporate communications. Syed (pictured) was most recently head of strategic stakeholder engagement with the company and joined in 2019 as head of corporate, community and public engagement. This comes as PLUS recently reshuffled its strategic stakeholder engagement team, which was renamed last year from corporate community and public engagement.

The strategic stakeholder engagement team previously had three units - stakeholder and government advocacy, communication and digital engagement, and public engagement. With the reshuffle, the stakeholder and government advocacy unit is now subsumed under the MD office, Syed told A+M.

At the same time, PLUS has also created a new unit named media engagement unit, which will be headed by Iskandar Dzulkifli who is experienced in PR and media engagement. He was previously leading the stakeholder and government advocacy unit.

All three units - media engagement, communication and digital engagement, and public engagement - report to Syed. Overall, the team's focus remains on corporate communications and Syed told A+M that there will be a more targeted focus, especially in this current climate where media engagement is very important.

"One of the things that saw success in media engagement and generating awareness was our Raya campaign. We had anticipated Raya to be different, with many people heading back to their hometowns after two years of lockdown. Hence, we ramped up its communications to prepare for consumers heading back to the highways," he said. According to him, the outcome was a successful communications campaign resulting in a positive festive journey experience for tens of millions of highway customers travelling along PLUS' highways.
