PHD China names Joey Zhao as CEO

PHD China has promoted Joey Zhao to CEO.

Prior to this elevation, Zhao was PHD China’s chief operating officer where he was instrumental in driving growth, operational efficiency and business transformation of the agency in China, culminating in PHD China clinching the media business for SAIC Volkswagen at the end of last year. 

Possessing more than 15 years of management experience in a variety of industries and categories, Zhao honed his business acumen having worked for the Shanghai government, Shanghai Media Group, and blue-chip multinational companies, consultancies and law firms in China. Prior to joining PHD China as chief operating officer, Zhao was a partner at an investment group with a focus on marketing technology for China’s advertising, media, and communications industries.

Zhao is based in Shanghai and reports into Claudine Kwek, CEO of Omnicom Media Group China. Meanwhile, Zhao is replacing former PHD China CEO Anna Chitty as the news of her departure was announced in September 2020.
