PETRONAS advertising lead Firdaus Shah takes on new role

Firdaus Shah Jonid (pictured below), former head of advertising and promotions at PETRONAS, has taken on the role of head group strategic communications at PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI).According to his LinkedIn, he took on the role as PETRONAS’ head of advertising and promotions in 2017 and was previously the planning director at Zenith Media (now known as Invictus Blue) for approximately four years. He also worked at Sime Darby Motors and Sime Darby Property, managing corporate communications and events. A+M has reached out to PETRONAS for comment. PLI is the global lubricants manufacturing and marketing arm of PETRONAS, the national oil corporation of Malaysia. It was established in 2008 and manufactures and markets a full range of high-quality automotive and industrial lubricants products in over 100 markets globally. The company is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur and has more than 30 marketing offices in 28 countries. PLI is a technical resource behind PETRONAS’ partnership with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team.Separately, PETRONAS currently works with IPG Mediabrands and McCann Worldgroup for ATL and BTL duties respectively. In July last year, the company’s downstream marketing unit saw Ben Mahmud, Shell’s former head of retail marketing, join as head of strategy and business development. Meanwhile, its principal marketing arm, PETRONAS Dagangan, also named Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Bin Syed Mohamed Tahir to the role of CEO and MD last year.
