Juliana Chua has left her role as GM, marketing at Pavilion Bukit Jalil to join Vettons as head of marketing. She first joined Pavilion Group in 2017 as GM, marketing for Pavilion KL and was later appointed to lead the new development at Bukit Jalil. Chua told A+M that Vettons was an obvious choice as it provides her with the opportunity to pivot amidst "the most significant change the industry has ever experienced in the digital marketing landscape to date". "And personally, as it will be unchartered territory, it will be stimulating at the very least," she added.

Replacing her at Pavilion Bukit Jalil is Kevin Teh, former head of brand management at Naga DDB Tribal Malaysia who joined this month as senior GM, marketing, according to his LinkedIn. A+M understands he oversees the entire marketing department, including events and CRM. A+M has reached out to Teh and Pavilion Bukit Jalil for comment.

According to Vettons' website, the company is pioneering new retail in Malaysia and beyond. It also aims to inject trust and authenticity into the eCommerce landscape through "a cutting-edge platform that is designed to simplify the lives of consumers". Vettons' touts its solution to be an integrated "new retail" ecosystem that comprises five mobile applications - Vettons App, Vettons Merchant, Vettons Fleet, Vettons Brand, and Vettons Trade.

The Vettons App seeks to carefully control product content and offer a catered shopping experience with smarter features. Meanwhile, Vettons Merchant provides merchants with "the fastest store setup platform" in the market, the company said. Vettons Fleet, Vettons Brand and Vettons Trade are still in the works, according to the website.

"In general, I constantly look for the next change in my career to be sustainable for the future, and as the saying goes, timing is everything. After four years of immerse retail brand experiences under the Pavilion brand and a decade of marketing and advertising experiences from multiple types of ad agencies, I am looking forward to bringing in the multiplied spectrum of knowledge gained into Vettons," Chua explained.

Before joining the brand side, Chua was in the agency scene helming leadership roles such as GM, business director, and senior account manager and working at Ignite KL, TBWA\ Kuala Lumpur, and Zenith. She was with FCB Kuala Lumpur's Ignite as GM, joining from TBWA\ where she was business director and head of activation. During her time there, she managed clients including OXY, Visa, Nippon Paint and Mondelez, according to her LinkedIn.

Meanwhile, at Zenith, she was GM, activation, specialising in consumer marketing, brand positioning, and brand activation. Chua was also planning director, integrated communication at Zenith. Before that, she was a senior account manager at GroupM for about five years, her LinkedIn said.

When asked about the marketing lessons she has learnt over the past year during the pandemic, Chua said: "Multiple and short-term disruptions will ultimately power adaptability.
