Paris Saint-Germain to debut its first e-sports challenge in Singapore

Two players from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) eSports’ FIFA team - Lucas “DaXe” Cuillerier and Johan “ManiiKa” Simon Two - will be participating in the first PSG eSports challenge in Singapore.

Held on 29 July, the two will measure themselves against competitors including Singaporean team, Team Flash - consisting of national representatives Amraan “Amraan” Gani and Joseph “Zarate” Yeo - as well as the regional champions from the recently concluded Asian Football Gaming Championships and the winners from the Paris Saint-Germain Community Tournament.

This is the first Paris Saint-Germain’s e-sports activation dedicated to fans in Singapore. The challenge coincides with Paris Saint-Germain men’s football team’s participation in the Singapore leg of the International Champions Cup held from 25 July to 1 August.

According to a statement, the organisation of the PSG eSports Challenge 2018, “demonstrates the dynamism of the e-sports movement and the Parisian club’s pioneering approach towards this sector”.

Fabien Allègre, director of merchandising and diversification, Paris Saint-Germain said, “With eSports, we are diversifying the Paris Saint-Germain brand in order to reach a new audience and notably young people in Asia with whom these new heroes resonate.”

Sebastien Wasels, managing director of Asia Pacific, Paris Saint-Germain, said that it was a “pleasure” collaborating with Singaporean team, Team Flash, and it will be a “first which will be extended on the long term.”

“E-sports is an integral part of the club’s international development strategy and we hope to leverage the popularity of the sport in this region and engage with the wider e-sports community,” he added.
