Panasonic and Golin take home top honours at PR Awards 2017

Panasonic and Golin Singapore blitzed the competition and were crowned the 2017 overall brand and agency champions at the PR Awards tonight in Singapore.

Over 300 finalists and senior communications professionals from across the region gathered at the Mandarin Orchard Singapore to recognise the best PR campaigns from the past year and celebrate the achievements of the industry.

Panasonic and its agency Golin made it comfortably over the line after receiving five gold awards in six categories including Best Regional PR Campaign, Best Use of Technology, Best Use of Broadcast / Video and Best B2B PR Campaign.

The “Panasonic Eclipse Live by Solar Power” impressed the judging panel the most and involved live-streaming the total solar eclipse phenomenon in Indonesia using only solar energy drawn from the Panasonic solar supply center. This provided a bold platform to showcase its solar technology to B2B and B2G target audiences but also to generate global buzz.

You can check out the live stream below as hosted by ex-MTV VJ Richard Harrera.

Jetstar Asia and Prudential and their agencies AKA Asia and Ruder Finn Asia respectively were neck-and-neck for second place both scoring two gold, two silver and one bronze prizes.

Jetstar and its agency AKA Asia celebrated recognition for the very Singaporean “Jetstar goes Singlish, lah!” campaign as well as the “Big Book Swap” and “$2017 Long Weekend Flight Package” campaigns.

Prudential and Ruder Finn Asia matched their wins with trophies for their emotional “Relationship matters” and “Let’s Disconnect to Connect” campaigns.

Other high performing brands included Changi Airport Group, Bukalapak, DBS Bank and Nespresso Singapore. And agencies who scored well in 2017 included GOODSTUPH, Asia PR Werkz, Adhesive PR and Ogilvy Public Relations Jakarta.

A total of 92 trophies across 32 categories were awarded and determined by a panel of senior communications professionals from leading brands including Sony, AccorHotels, BMW, L'Oreal and many more.

The PR Awards was supported by partners Media OutReach, Cellarmaster Wines and Graphiss Media.
