Grab Indonesia has celebrated a decade of GrabBike operations while commemorating Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day by setting a new MURI (Museum Rekor-Dunia Indonesia) record. The event, titled “1080 Grab Indonesia: Semua bisa berdaya, semua bisa sejahtera”, engaged over 5,000 driver-partners across 80 cities from Aceh to Papua in a large-scale tumpeng-decorating contest, known as #TumpengNASIonal.
The competition, which ran from 6-13 August 2025, culminated at Padepokan Pencak Silat Indonesia, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta. During the celebration, Triyono Aditri, senior manager of MURI, awarded the official record certificate to Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi and representatives of the driver-partners. The record set was for the “largest series of tumpeng decorated by online motorcycle taxi drivers.”
Over the past 10 years, GrabBike has evolved from a transport service into a major driver of Indonesia’s digital economy, creating income opportunities for millions of partners, supporting the growth of small businesses, and promoting inclusive technological adoption.

“This celebration coincides with Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, reminding us that Grab’s journey is not just about business growth, but about moving forward together to build a more inclusive and competitive nation. #Tripmakasih to our driver-partners who have faithfully served millions of consumers across Indonesia, because behind every click and trip, there is an extraordinary impact,” said Goenadi.
The event served not only as a world record attempt but also as an appreciation of driver-partners’ contributions over the past decade. Partners participated in traditional Independence Day games, received a range of prizes including motorcycles, smartphones, and OVO balance, and strengthened camaraderie across cities.
Driver-partners shared their enthusiasm. Juarsih from Bekasi, a GrabBike partner since 2015, said, “I’m both proud and happy to be part of this celebration of togetherness. Decorating tumpeng with my fellow driver-partners makes me feel that Grab is truly our second home. The spirit is the same: supporting each other, taking pride in each other. Thank you, Grab, for being with me over these 10 years, helping me educate my children and realise my child’s dream of graduating from university.”
Since its launch in 2014, Grab has expanded to over 300 cities and regencies in Indonesia. Beyond celebrating its milestones, the company is also advancing initiatives to make urban mobility more inclusive and seamlessly integrated with public transportation.
In June 2025, Grab Indonesia signed an agreement with the Jakarta provincial government to enhance public services through data-driven policies, safer transportation, digital entrepreneurship, and the empowerment of women. The collaboration, part of the Jakarta Future Festival 2025, reinforces Grab’s role as a key partner in connecting ride-hailing with public transit and ensuring that Jakarta’s mobility system evolves to meet the challenges of a modern, global city.
Grab is also investing in the next generation, connecting with students across Indonesia to provide mentorship, practical guidance, and opportunities that turn ambition into action through its Generasi Campus Roadshow 2025 - a multi-city programme visiting leading universities from August to December, targeting over 20,000 students.
