Ogilvy retains PR duties for World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum (the Forum) has picked Ogilvy Public Relations Beijing as the Official PR Partner for its eighth Annual Meeting of the New Champions, which will take place in Tianjin, China from 10 to 12 September 2014.

Widely known as the ‘Summer Davos,’ the Annual Meeting of the New Champions (the Meeting) is a global gathering on innovation, entrepreneurship, science and technology.

Under this year’s theme, ‘Creating Value through Innovation,’ the program emphasizes experiential learning and creative thought.

More than 1,600 leaders from business, government, research, art and culture from over 90 countries are expected to participate in this year’s meeting.

Throughout eight years of successful partnership with the Forum, Ogilvy PR’s dedicated team of PR practitioners will continue to provide on-site meeting management and strategic counsel in both traditional and new media.

"In addition, Ogilvy PR will help develop a long-term, local social media strategy and create real-time content for the Forum’s Chinese platforms, including WeChat and Weibo, to engage with the Forum’s growing online audience.

Scott Kronick, President and CEO of Ogilvy PR Asia Pacific, said: “As China moves into the next stage of growth, the focus will be on quality and not quantity. Innovation sits at the heart of this new chapter of economic development. The country’s start-up generation is going to shape the face of China and we are honored to be an integrated part of this process of change.”

Ogilvy PR has also been chosen as the Official PR Partner for a number of the Forum’s Asian meetings which took place in the Philippines in May 2014, in Myanmar in June 2013, in India in November 2012 and in Thailand in June 2012.
