Ocean Park turns HK into giant panda party zone

Ocean Park has collaborated with the Tourism Commission and the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to celebrate the birthday of the panda twins, Jia Jia and De De, with a citywide immersive campaign.
Also known as "Pandastic panda birthday parade" (Pandastic 大熊貓生日巡遊), the summer-long party aims to turn the entire city into a joyful panda land. The spotlight shines on the Hong Kong-born giant panda twins as they turn two, joined by their August-born parents, Ying Ying and Le Le, alongside the June birthday stars, An An and Ke Ke. Daily commutes and weekend shopping excursions now feature the presence of Hong Kong's six giant pandas across various public spaces.
From 4 to 31 August, citizens can keep their cameras locked and loaded for Tram 300, which rocks Hong Kong’s first-ever optical illusion design starring Jia Jia and De De for the ultimate social media snap. Commuters can also hop aboard three more designated trams wrapped in vibrant designs featuring Ying Ying, Le Le, An An and Ke Ke.

For those travelling further, they can catch a ride on KMB routes 1, 307 and 968, where colourful designs with the six Hong Kong giant pandas turn bus rides into rolling festivities across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories.

The party has extended straight into the city’s prime retail hubs with the Panda Friends Pop-up Roadshow. The first stop at Fashion Walk in Causeway Bay runs until 23 August, transforming the pedestrian walkway into a vibrant playground where fans can capture sweet memories and grab limited-edition merchandise.
Open daily from 12pm to 8pm at Fashion Walk, the pop-up store offers two incentives for shoppers. Those with a net purchase of HK$400 or more in a single transaction receive a complimentary Panda Friends "Welcome to School" badge pin. Additionally, customers presenting a same-day receipt may redeem one free photo session at the photo booth.

The Panda Friends roadshow will move to The Peak Galleria, running from 24 August to 27 September 2026. Additionally, the Panda Friends Hong Kong Food Collection offers panda-inspired versions of iconic local snacks and household staples.
In addition to the tram and bus wraps and retail pop-up experiences, the campaign is supported by digital and social media content, a "Summer joy" lucky draw and various media engagements to amplify awareness and engagement across Hong Kong.

Debuting in late 2024, the Panda Friends intellectual property features new pandas An An and Ke Ke, introduced in December 2024, followed by twins Jia Jia and De De in February 2025. Ocean Park has been exploring ways to develop panda-themed intellectual property (IP) through various partnerships. Back in January, it teamed up with convenience store chain Circle K to offer limited-edition panda-themed ground coffee at their outlets.
