now TV secures rights to Mayweather vs Pacquiao bout

now TV has secured exclusive rights to broadcast the mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

One of the biggest sporting events of 2015, the event will take place in Las Vegas on 2 May (3 May in Hong Kong) between two of the best boxers in modern history. Mayweather is the undefeated WBC and WBA champion, while Pacquiao reigns as WBO welterweight world champion.

The showdown is also expected to richest in boxing history and has seen rival broadcast groups HBO and Showtime collaborate in a rare pay-per-view deal last seen in the 2002 match between Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis.

Pacquiao and his promoter Top Rank have a PPV deal with HBO, while Mayweather is a top attraction at Showtime.

Loke Kheng Tham, PCCW’s executive vice president of Pay TV, described now TV as the "home of sports" and said now TV was very excited to present the mega-fight to Hong Kong's many boxing fans.

Viewers can subscribe to a Mayweather vs Pacquiao event pass for HK$300 to watch the fight live on TV or in HD. Subscribing to the event also enables viewers to watch the action via a smart device using now Player.
