Nielsen has appointed Johan Vrancken (pictured) as managing director, Singapore, and he will report to Patrick Dodd, president, Nielsen Growth Markets Group. Marketing understands Richard Hall, managing director of Nielsen Malaysia, will continue to lead the Malaysia market.
He takes over from Joan Koh, who has taken on a new role in talent engagement & development for Asia. Prior to the move, Koh was managing director of Singapore and Malaysia for over five years. She was MD of Singapore since 2010, and took on the Malaysia market in 2012.
Prior to the appointment, Vrancken was the managing director, innovation practice, growth and emerging markets at Nielsen, where he led the company’s innovation practice across 80 countries. He also leveraged Nielsen’s portfolio of innovation products and consulting services to drive business success for clients.
Vrancken was senior vice president, Asia Pacific, at Affinnova before it was acquired by Nielsen in 2014. During his time there, he accelerated the adoption of Affinova’s technology platform within FMCG and other verticals throughout Asia Pacific, to deliver value and growth for clients worldwide. He previously worked for start-up agencies in Singapore, such as eYeka and kicked off his career in brand marketing within the Danone Group and AB-Inbev in Europe.
