Nestle Malaysia names new CEO as Alois Hofbauer steps down

Nestle Malaysia has appointed Juan Aranols (pictured) to the role of CEO, effective 1 December 2018, replacing Alois Hofbauer, who has decided to leave the Nestlé Group to pursue other interests outside the company after five and a half years.

Aranols is currently CFO for the Nestlé Group’s Zone Asia, Oceania and SubSaharan Africa (Zone AOA). He joined the company in 1990 as an auditor for Nestle Spain and has held roles of increasing responsibility across a number of different markets in Europe and Latin America, in his 28 years with the company.

Aranols described Nestlé Malaysia as a company with a "long history and great future prospects". " I am both humbled and excited to be given the opportunity to take this organisation forward, building on the strong foundations laid by my predecessor and his team," he added.

Meanwhile, Hofbauer said he is proud of the team, which has "reignited growth" and achieved solid results year after year. "I am confident that this success will continue, and I wish Aranols all the best in his new role," he said.

Recently, the company appointed Zenith as its media agency in Singapore, while Publicis One won the business in Malaysia. The appointment is effective 1 January 2019 and follows a pitch process after Nestlé called for a media review in June this year to align its strategy, planning and buying with the evolving industry landscape.
