MTR Corporation and local illustrator Walado (哇啦豆) have partnered up to showcase a series of illustrations in Sheung Wan and Sai Wan Ho stations, aiming to brighten up passengers’ journeys and promote artistic talent.

Available until 3 July, the exhibition is the latest initiative under the “Art in MTR” programme, which underpins MTR’s commitment to nurture local artists by offering a platform to showcase their talent while promoting the public's art appreciation. MTR Corporation has worked with local and international artists to integrate art into stations by offering space at different MTR stations for art exhibitions under the programme.

Through colourful paintings featuring a little girl and her best friends embarking on a magical journey looking for hope and positivity, Walado hopes that her works will bring passengers a bright, happy and wonderful journey. A total of 29 illustrations are displayed.

“The series of colourful works take us on a visual journey that inspires us to treasure every precious moment in life. In addition to brightening the train journeys of passengers, ‘Art in MTR’ also provides artists with a platform to share their passion,” said Linda Choy, corporate affairs and branding director of MTR Corporation.

“In my illustrations entitled ‘Colourful Childhood’, the little girl and the bear are the projection of our childhood and childhood friends. These two characters could help people revisit their childhood’s boundless imagination and joyful memories, such as festive celebrations with family members, thus inspiring them to be positive and optimistic,” said Walado.
