Malaysia’s largest home improvement retailer, MR D.I.Y., returned with its popular Merdeka-themed bazaar, “Bersama satu", ("Together as one") for a second year, promising four days of food, shopping, and family fun. The celebration ran from 29 August to 1 September 2025 at the Sunway Pyramid open car park, in conjunction with the nation’s 68th Merdeka Day.

The bazaar featured over 100 booths, including MR D.I.Y.’s own brands, such as MR. D.I.Y., MR. TOY, and MR. DOLLAR, alongside some of Malaysia’s viral food and lifestyle vendors. Visitors were able to enjoy local favourites such as roti canai, nasi lemak, laksa, burgers, noodles, desserts, and beverages, as well as handmade accessories, crafts, stationery, cosmetics, and clothing. Popular brands including Coca-Cola, ZUS Coffee, Tealive, and Oriental Kopi were also part of the festivities.

Beyond shopping and food, the bazaar also offered interactive experiences for all ages. Families could enjoy games, creative workshops, cultural and contemporary performances, a giant inflatable playground, a bubble dome, and even a petting zoo.

Alex Goh, vice president of marketing at MR D.I.Y. Group, said the return of the bazaar is aimed at bringing Malaysians together. “Our first ‘Bersama satu bazaar’ received overwhelmingly positive feedback from Malaysians, so we’re bringing it back – this time at a new location to welcome even more visitors,” he said.

“This event is about uniting Malaysians as we celebrate Merdeka together, while also supporting local businesses, entrepreneurs, and performers. As a proudly homegrown brand, MR D.I.Y. is committed not just to delivering quality products at ‘Always low prices’, but also to creating meaningful experiences that bring people together.”

As part of the event, visitors were also able to take part in the "Bazaar passport challenge" to receive complimentary tote bags, with lucky draw prizes worth up to RM8,000 up for grabs. MR D.I.Y. also ran special promotions on 98 products at all its stores nationwide during the Merdeka period.

Coca‑Cola Malaysia had brought its iconic Merdeka-themed campaign, ‘Share a Coke buatan malaysia’ ('Made in Malaysia'), to the "Bersama satu" bazaar as well, celebrating local identity through personalised cans featuring beloved nicknames and traits, from Abang Sado and Mak Cik Bawang to Kaki Bola and Gang Healing. The campaign also honoured real-life heroes, including firefighters, with specially labelled cans recognising their service and dedication.

Meanwhile, ZUS Coffee and MR D.I.Y. joined forces to spotlight the nation’s DIY spirit with a playful Merdeka collaboration. Running from 18 August to 21 September 2025, the campaign featured ZUS Coffee’s “Kita-kita series”, allowing customers to personalise their drinks with fun toppings such as the chocolate-dripping ‘Chocoleleh’. MR D.I.Y. complemented the activation with limited-edition coffee-time essentials, including canvas jute bags, sport crew socks, and frozee cups, available in selected stores and online, celebrating creativity, accessibility, and a distinctly local sense of playfulness.
