Media Publishers Association Singapore (MPAS) has appointed Alexander Knight(pictured) as executive director. He was previously vice president of the association. The appointment came on the heels of a resignation of one of MPAS’ senior committee members; Campaign Asia Southeast Asia editor Nikki Wicks (secretary) had resigned from his post at MPAS just last week.Following Knight’s appointment, the MPAS EXCO and ED has vowed to ensure that the members are put first and foremost in preparation for taking MPAS into its second decade.A programme is being lined up for the rest of 2015 and into 2016 - the 10th anniversary year of the founding of the association in 2006. A substantial membership drive will also be undertaken. A monthly newsletter will be sent to the industry, regular MPAS social gatherings will resume, a new awards programme will be implemented – that will include all media publishers - and a winter conference is being planned.Knight has over 20 years of experience in the publishing and media industry. He is currently managing director of media company Dachex Media where he has held the role since July 2006. He was publisher at Property Life Magazine for two years before moving on to the role of Southeast Asia director at BuyAssociation Marketplace.President John Thet said: “Today is a great day for Singapore media in general. With an energised EXCO and newly appointed ED, we can reach heights now previously only imagined. Knight knows the association inside out and is looking forward to reinvigorating it.”
