SPH Magazines has appointed Ivan Wong (pictured) as commercial director and he will be reporting to managing director Maureen Wee.
He will be driving strategic commercial directions for the SPH Magazines Women’s Network. This includes titles such as such as Cleo, Harper’s Bazaar, The Singapore Women’s Weekly and The Finder.
Wong left his role as managing partner of Mindshare in September. He began his career as an executive with Mindshare Singapore in 2003 before moving to Starcom Media Singapore as a manager in 2007. He then spent a year with MPG Asia Pacific as international director, before he joined IPG Mediabrands in 2011 as business director.
He has over 12 years of media agency experience.
SPH recently reported a 17.5% dip in profits for the year which ended 31 August 2016 (FY2016). The results for the year also included impairment charges of SG$28.4 million. This was primarily related to the magazine business whose performance was “affected by unfavourable market conditions”, said SPH in a press statement.
