GroupM has confirmed to Marketing that? Michael Beecroft has been named as the agency?s CEO for Northeast Asia.
Beecroft fills the slot left empty since Chung Youngoo departed the position to become GroupM CEO for Korea.
Currently the Asia Pacific chief investment officer for Mindshare based in Singapore, Beecroft is expected to relocate to Tokyo where he will offer support for GroupM in both Japan and Korea. GroupM Japan CEO Linda Lee will continue to lead Japan operations and will report to Beecroft directly. The appointment will become effective as of 1 January.
Prior to his time at Mindshare, Beecroft spent 11 years at MEC, serving in a wide variety of roles. These positions include leading accounts and digital trading before eventually becoming the company?s chief investment officer.
The details of Beecroft?s appointment were confirmed to Marketing by Mark Patterson who, at the time of speaking, was the APAC CEO and China chairman of GroupM but was later today given a global remit and named GroupM's chief operating officer.
