Metro Holdings is celebrating its 65th anniversary by partnering with Singaporean singer-songwriter Joel Tan, also known as Gentle Bones, to release an animated music video based on its Metro Service Magic jingle. The song is based on the Group's popular Metro Christmas Magic tune, and is re-sung with its original lyrics intact to cater to a refreshed, younger Singaporean audience.

Metro was founded in 1957 by the late Ong Tjoe Kim as a textile store and has since grown over the years to operate two core business segments - property investment and development, as well as retail. It focuses on key markets in Singapore, Indonesia, China, the UK, and Australia.

The Group's property arm owns and manages several prime retail and office properties in first-tier cities in China, such as Shanghai and Guangzhou, and up-and-coming high growth cities such as Chengdu. They include Metro City, Metro Tower, Bay Valley, Shanghai Plaza, and The Atrium Mall. It has also expanded its portfolio to cover a fuller spectrum of properties in Singapore, China, the UK, and Australia, including Trans Park Bekasi, Asia Green, The Crest at Prince Charles Crescent, and Sheffield Digital Campus. As at 31 March 2021, it had a turnover of SG$97.3 million and net assets of SG$1.6 billion. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Metro for additional information.

Metro Group's CEO, Yip Hoong Mun, said the company is proud of this milestone because Metro is Singapore. "We hope with the support of fellow Singaporeans, together we can grow stronger, go further and scale higher," Yip added.

Meanwhile, Tan added that it is an absolute pleasure to be reimagining Metro's historic jingle for its 65th anniversary. "A home-grown brand that has prospered and triumphed through the years and a mainstay of the Singaporean identity, it is truly an honour to be a part of this," he added.
