Since 2018, Metro Broadcast has been successfully transforming the annual signature music awards Hit Awards into a digital and engaging event through the application of state-of-the-art technology.

Themed “Create Your Wonderful Moment” (創造精彩一刻), Hit Awards 2020 introduced an AR mobile game (勁爆AR 合拍體驗) by employing the latest web AR technology which enabled audiences to interact with the singers including Alfred Hui, Jason Chan, James Ng, Hana Kuk, Vincy Chan, Joyce Cheng, Gin Lee and Zaina Sze wherever and whenever they want.

In addition, once the finished AR video was downloaded, participants automatically joined a lucky draw to get a chance to win one of the prizes from the event sponsors. To further encourage audiences to share more of their wonderful moments, anyone who posted the AR video on social media would also have an opportunity to win an iPhone 12 Pro.

Metro Broadcast has also teamed up with Henderson Land to offer members of its H-COINS app privileges to experience a special yet exclusive AR game edition.

“With the pandemic still raging, we would like to cheer up the mass public with an engaging game as audiences could bring their favourite singers to anywhere they like to create fantastic moments with them creatively and virtually,” said Teresa Fung, CCO of Metro Broadcast Corporation.

“We trust that it would offer an effective digital solution to optimise our sponsors’ exposure while engaging with target audiences. We believe that this campaign is going to be another breakthrough in terms of impact, extended reach and virality,” she added.

Metro Broadcast Corporation’s managing director Sung Man-hei commented, “We are delighted to launch this cutting edge Hit Awards AR game which embraces both digitalisation and interactivity. In a bid to let more Hong Kong people enjoy the presentation ceremony during the pandemic period, we plan to conduct a physical one if conditions allow and live broadcast through Metro’s omnichannels on 30 December.”
