Media Prima names Mohamad Shukor Bin Ariffin CEO for Big Tree Outdoor

Media Prima has appointed Mohamad Shukor Bin Ariffin (pictured) as CEO of out-of-home (OOH) advertising company Big Tree Outdoor (BTO), who will be responsible for the overall operations of BTO. Ariffin will focus on strengthening BTO's core business, while pursuing new opportunities in line with Media Prima's long term growth strategies.He reports to group MD of Media Prima Datuk Kamal Khalid. Prior to his latest appointment, Ariffin was BTO's COO. He joined the company in 2003 as manager, corporate affairs and business development, before moving up the ranks to GM, business development and corporate planning in 2009. He also helmed the role of GM, operations in 2011. Before joining BTO, Ariffin worked at Plus, Medas Corporation and Azlan & Associates Consulting.“He has a deep knowledge of the operations and commercial aspects of OOH business, and I am confident that he will contribute immensely and bring new levels of success to the Group. He and his team played a pivotal role in securing the advertising concession for the MRT and LRT lines extension and will now follow through with the rollout of key advertising assets which will be a major contributor for BTO’s revenue moving forward," Khalid said.“We are confident that he will continue with the aggressive efforts to not only maintain the company’s dominance in Malaysia but also expand into new markets abroad. The appointment also reflects our strong succession planning that enables smooth handover of responsibilities and operations, thus ensuring our clients continue to receive the excellent level of service that they have been accustomed to from BTO," Raja Datuk Zaharaton Raja Zainal Abidin, chairman of BTO, said.Last year, BTO was awarded the outdoor exterior advertising concession from MASS Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) for a period of 10 years. The consortium is made up of BTO and Seni Jaya, one of Malaysia’s OOH media owners.
