The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is seeking suggestions from the public to name the new national mobile app. The selected individual will receive a voucher worth RM2,000 as a token of appreciation. This is part of its public questionnaire on the use of the national mobile app to improve the quality of digital services.

MCMC said in a statement that the national mobile app plans to be a one-stop centre, which would allow users to experience a seamless digital experience to access online services from both the digital government and selected private sectors.Through the application, users would be able to access government digital services, selected private services, bill payment, traffic summonses, renewal of driving license and road tax, registration of children for schooling, apply for a place at a public university, birth registration, marriage registration and among others.

An online survey is currently being conducted until 6 October to help introduce the application and its potential scenarios in Malaysia to obtain views and input on the potential adoption of a national mobile application across public and private sectors. It also aims to identify factors that might influence the public's decision when using a national mobile application and assess further improvements on the delivery of government services.

Separately, MCMC partnered with 15 telcos in June this year to educate consumers to identify fraudulent activities and steps that can be taken to prevent the increasing number of fraudulent attempts. The campaign is titled Telecommunication Crime Prevention Awareness Campaign and touches on fraud via phone calls and SMS.
