Maxis has partnered digital music streaming service Spotify in a bid to venture on mobile music. The partnership is aimed to provide an enhanced lifestyle experience with its network and Spotify’s catalogue of over 20 million tracks to prepaid and postpaid Maxis customers.Maxis customers can now choose from millions of songs wherever they are—at the gym, behind the wheel, jogging or even over a candlelight dinner.T Kugan, head of digital services of Maxis, said with the continuous expansion of smartphone penetration, Maxis is seeing a surge in demand for music access on mobile devices.“Our LTE customers, in particular, enjoy a greater Spotify experience, as they get to ride on speeds that are generally five to 10 times faster than 3G. This adds a whole new dimension to their lifestyles, enhancing their overall experience in consuming music digitally.”When contacted by A+M, Sunita Kaur, director for Asia at Spotify, said the company has been in talks with Maxis for a while now.“As a local leading telco, it is a very good fit for us. Together with Maxis, we’re delighted to bring music fans a fantastic new way to listen to music - one that ensures you’ll always have the right music for every moment.”Maxis users can choose from a wide range of songs from Spotify instantly, and listen to the downloaded music offline at RM10 per month along with 150MB of Internet data.
