Communications service provider Maxis and Public Bank are collaborating to further accelerate digital adoption among Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs). As part of the collaboration, both companies will promote digitalisation among SMEs via a joint awareness programme.

Maxis and Public Bank will also pave way for SMEs to access digital solutions, together with the financial assistance to implement them. In tandem, both companies will jointly engage their respective customers through on-ground and online activities. These include activities such as awareness talks across Public Bank's branch network.

"We believe that by combining our financial expertise with Maxis’ technological prowess, we can make a meaningful impact on the digital transformation of Malaysian SMEs, enabling them to thrive and contribute to the nation’s economic growth," said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Tay, Public Bank’s managing director and chief executive officer

"As an integrated telco, Maxis Business is the trusted partner for enterprises of all sizes. We want to make it easy for SMEs to digitalise, so they can focus on growing their business," added Goh Seow Eng, chief executive officer of Maxis.

"Through this collaboration, we look forward to together drive the nation’s SME digital transformation."

Meanwhile, Maxis Business will come on board as the official telco and digital partner of Public Bank's PB enterprise Digital SME Assist Programme.

This will allow Public Bank's SME customers to access Maxi's connectivity and digital solutions to meet business needs such as mobile and fixed connectivity, payments, eCommerce, cloud and cybersecurity.

Maxis Business will also assist Public Bank's SME customers to apply for the Geran Digital PMKS Madani (GDPM) digitalisation grant scheme.

GDPM is an initiative from the Malaysian government that helps micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) improve digitalization applications in their daily business operations that was launched in November 2023.

The grant will provide a matching grant of 50% or up to RM5,000 for eligible businesses.

The program is part of the government's efforts to reform the digital economy and increase the exposure of MSMEs to the digital era.
