Mawarni Adam has decided to revive her branding, marketing and communications consultancy, M Consulting Asia, officially incorporating it last December. Mawarni (pictured) was previously Berjaya Sompo Insurance's head of brand, marketing communications and customer experience and was with the company for more than two years.
"M Consulting Asia was a sole proprietor in 2015 and it was limiting because I was handling everything on my own and could not take on more projects. It remained dormant when I was at Berjaya Sompo and I have now decided to revive it," she told A+M.
M Consulting Asia focuses on strategy and consulting, outsourcing and training, and matching solutions for business needs. Under strategy and consulting, Mawarni previously focused on SME and corporate branding but has decided to pivot and expand into personal and professional as well. Meanwhile, the firm is offering a CMO-in-residence (CIR) programme as part of its outsourcing and training offering.
Mawarni explained that the CIR is usually done in the tech industry but is now offered to other industries. According to her, CIRs usually have a six to 12 months residency in companies, sometimes longer depending on the need. "This is not common in Malaysia or Asia yet but trends are shifting," she said, adding that she was a CIR to Sime Darby Innovation a few years ago.
As for team outsourcing, M Consulting Asia offers companies a chance to outsource a portion or the entire branding and marketing function and will help create a strategy based on its business goals as well as execute the plan. At the same time, its offering to match business solutions will see the firm offering client-agency matching, selective or closed tendering, governance and best practice, as well as the return-on-agency. For return-on-agency (ROA), M Consulting Asia will help clients manage the risk of investment and maximise the benefit from the collaboration through its ROA strategy. Among the list of industries the firm focuses on include insurance, financial services, education, and startups.
The team currently has a core team of five and is on the hunt for freelance graphic designers and copywriters. It is also hiring a personal branding specialist, a client management executive, trainers, and a HR executive on a contract basis.
Before joining Berjaya Sompo, Mawarni was with BIG Loyalty as head of marketing and programme development for more than a year, according to her LinkedIn, and was also Tune Protect Group's head of marketing for over a year. She was also founder and MD of eCommerce platform Magnoliya, marketing manager, cards at Citi and brand executive at McCann Worldgroup.
