Marriott International and YTL Hotels have partnered to develop two new luxury hotels in Kuala Lumpur, under the JW Marriott and EDITION brands. They have also signed memorandums of understanding for two hotels in Japan.
This is the first time the EDITION brand makes its foray into Malaysia, while YTL Hotels will be constructing its second JW Marriott hotel. The two hotels to be developed in Japan are EDITION and W Hotel, which will further complement the luxury hotel experience in the fully-integrated Niseko Village in Hokkaido.
“Our 20-year relationship has been pivotal to the growth of YTL Hotels in Malaysia, Asia and in the UK. Through illustrious Marriott International brands such as The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott and Autograph Collection, we seek to offer our guests experiences that will make memories for a lifetime," Tan Sri Dato’ Francis Yeoh, MD of YTL group of companies, said.
"We are pleased with today’s announcement, which advances our goal of doubling our luxury presence in Asia Pacific. With the addition of these hotels to our system, our guests will have even more luxurious opportunities to explore Malaysia and Japan, two exciting and diverse travel destinations," Craig S. Smith, president and MD for Marriott International Asia Pacific, said.
