Hubert Burda officially launches in Malaysia, ceases publishing Lisa magazine

Publisher Hubert Burda Malaysia’s new business strategy will see the closure of Lisa Malaysia magazine. The last issue will be published in June.

Lisa Malaysia was published by HPB Press Holding, a joint venture between Hot Potato Publishing and Hubert Burda Media Germany. First published in November 2011, the monthly magazine targeted young Malay women aged 17-29 years old and had circulation of 50,000. It is distributed in Malaysia, with a main distribution in Klang Valley, according to its website. It is not audited.

With a new focus on luxury titles, the publishing house is set to undergo a "rationalisation exercise" within the next few months.

It is also set to launch Chinese language luxury magazine PIN Prestige in September 2015 targeting to 25-45 year olds. This new launch aims to cater to the growing presence of the Chinese market and audience in Malaysia.

Hubert Burda Malaysia will be headed by publisher and managing director Victor Omar Low, who reports to Melvin Ang, group publisher (Luxury Brands) and managing director of Burda’s South East Asia operations. Low will be assisted by the company’s commercial director, Steven Chan.

The Malaysian office also publishes Prestige Malaysia and August Man.
