Hong Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group has appointed Sarah Fung (pictured) as director of social media, reporting to Shelley Tso, vice-president of marketing and communications.

In this newly created role, Fung is based in Hong Kong and oversees the social media accounts for The Langham Hotels and Resorts as well as Cordis Hotels and Resorts.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Fung said she also works collaboratively with the property teams, focusing primarily on hotels outside of mainland China. "This includes our flagship property in London, as well as hotels in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific, and Hong Kong."

The appointment also aligns with the heritage and stories the group aims to share. It began with the founding Langham branch in London, opened by the then-Prince of Wales in 1865. The hotel has since served as a meeting place for notable figures, including English novelist Charles Dickens, George Orwell, British statesman Winston Churchill, and American writer Mark Twain.

Drawing on her background as a journalist and editor, Fung said she has been brought on to develop a content strategy and align the brand voice and visual identity across all channels. “My mission is to tell these stories in a meaningful and compelling way as Langham Hospitality Group enters an exciting new period of growth in 2026 and beyond,” she added.

Fung is experienced in the media and communications field, having worked as a publisher for a wellness magazine in Hong Kong and as managing editor at a media group, according to her LinkedIn.

Don’t miss: Langham Hospitality Group celebrates 160 years of legacy with cultural icons

Back in January last year, Langham Hospitality Group launched a global campaign for its flagship hotel brand, The Langham Hotels, to celebrate the group’s 160th anniversary. Punctuated by the tagline “Your story. Our legacy” (我的傳奇 由你延續), the campaign celebrated the lives of the leading artists, architects, athletes, writers, chefs, designers and other cultural icons who had stayed and gathered at The Langham’s properties across the world and, in doing, helped form its identity.

The opening phase of the activation featured the stories of Hong Kong fencer and two-time gold medallist Edgar Cheung (張家朗), and Chinese swimmer and individual medley champion Wang Shun ().
