Interpublic Group has consolidated the management of its two media buying agencies in Hong Kong, with Chris Skinner MD at Initiative to step in as MD of sister agency UM.The reshuffle will see Alice Lam depart UM after two and a half years at the helm.In a statement Lam said she will retire from the industry. In addition to running UM and Initiative, Skinner will also serve as managing director of Mediabrands Hong Kong.He told Marketing the move made sense for a small market like Hong Kong. Both agencies will remain separate, but part of Skinner's appointment will see UM and Initiative share back end operations such as finance and buying. Jeff Cressall, president of UM Asia Pacific and Mediabrands Asia Pacific, said a new head of Initiative Hong Kong would be appointed in the near future.Cressall said Lam had done a "very good job" in her role with UM."Alice has done a very good job for us and the agency has a series of special achievements under her guidance. We wish her well," he said.
