KFC Singapore has appointed Ninemer Communications to manage PR duties for 12 months following a pitch with four other agencies. Ninemer will support KFC in communications efforts including strategies and initiatives to generate a strong brand presence. In addition, Ninemer will also leverage its expertise in influencer management to support the brand’s other initiatives.

Other duties include building brand stories that will expound on KFC’s brand philosophy, its investment in people, sustainability, and community care efforts. According to Juliana Lim, senior director, marketing and food innovation of KFC Singapore, the team is excited to be working with Ninemer as its new PR partner, to continue its efforts in strengthening the KFC Singapore brand in Singapore. KFC never had a PR agency on retainer.

"Besides displaying a strong strategic competency and a history of working with other lifestyle brands, Ninemer impressed us with its strategic recommendations and out-of-the-box thinking for KFC," Lim added. Separately, KFC wrapped up its social pitch in April, appointing Arena Media to handle social media communications and marketing activities. The incumbent was GOODSTUPH.

Arena Media is a subsidiary of Havas Media Group Singapore. The agency specialises in leveraging consumer insights and behaviour to deliver meaningful communication solutions to drive sustainable growth for brands and businesses. Its other clients include AIA, Kaplan and Futu Singapore, among others. Lim said previously that KFC was particularly impressed with the agency's challenger mindset, as well as depth of social media intelligence and commerce.

Earlier this month, the QSR brand launched its"Let Kindness Fly" campaign to promote kindness and respect towards service staff in the food industry. Consumers are encouraged to strike a pose by locking their thumbs together while facing their palms outwards to form a "wing" shape. They can then upload the image of them on Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #LetKindnessFly, along with encouraging words for the service staff. This will be complemented with an exclusive collection of Instagram stickers that consumers can use to also pledge their support.
