Karangkraf Media Group's founder, Hussamuddin Yaacub, is resigning as group chairman and publisher next month. At the same time, deputy group chairman Muhammad Nasir Haji Hamzah is also stepping down on 1 November, Sinar Daily reported. Both individuals will become the company's advisor and co-advisor, respectively, after stepping down and will no longer be on the board.

Firdaus Hussamuddin, former CEO of Grup Buku Karangkraf, will succeed Hussamuddin as group chairman. Firdaus is also one of the five new individuals being appointed to the group's board, including Akmal Eirfan Mohamed Fauzi, Farah Hussamuddin, Azizi Fikry and Izzat Izhar Muhammad Nasir, Sinar Daily added.

Hussamuddin explained that Karangkraf has been "growing strongly" for the past 40 years and the company has also survived the wave of digital disruption. As such, he believes it is timely for him and Muhammad Nasir to take a backseat and pass the baton to the younger generation.

The group is also undergoing a leadership shuffle with the new appointments coming into effect on 1 November. According to Sinar Daily, Farah will helm the role of executive director/CEO/publisher of the group's media unit which comprises Sinar Daily and Sinar Harian. She was formerly CEO of Sinar Karangkraf.

Also, Azizi Fikry is now executive director/CEO of the printing and manufacturing unit, which includes Ultimate Print and Karangkraf Medicare. He previously held the role of deputy COO of Ultimate Print. Firdaus is now executive director/CEO/publisher of the group's book and Al-Quran publishing unit which comprises Grup Buku Karangkraf, Karya Bestari, and its subsidiaries. According to Sinar Daily, she will work together with Izzat Izhar who has been named the unit's executive director/COO.

At the same time, Akmal Eirfan will be taking on the role of group executive director of corporate, finance, and risk management. He was formerly CEO of Ultimate Print.
