Kantar acquires Singaporean analytics firm

Kantar, a WPP wholly-owned data investment management business, has agreed to acquire the entire issued share capital of Fisheye Analytics, a media monitoring and analytics services business based in Singapore.

Founded in 2009 in Singapore with an R&D centre in Hyderabad, Fisheye has 14 staff in its employment. The company, which will become part of Kantar Media, works with sports governing bodies, international organisations and governments from Europe and Asia.

Currently leading the agency is co-founder Ashwin Gayam. Gayam was one of three co founders for the agency and will be reporting to CEO of Kantar Media News intelligence Walter Patanella.

Post the acquisition, Gayam will also be taking on the dual role of chief social media strategy officer. Gayam told Marketing that the agency also has plans of expanding into markets such as Greater China, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Locally, Fisheye competes with the likes of Brandtology and globally it competes with Radian 6.

For the year ending 31 October 2013, Fisheye's unaudited revenues were SG$782,871, with gross assets of SG$332,162.

Collectively, WPP companies (including associates) in Singapore generate revenues of around US$350 million and employ 2,000 people, said a Kantar release. In the Asia Pacific region, WPP companies (including associates) generate revenues of US$5 billion and employ more than 47,000 people.

WPP's data investment management business, with revenues of US$4.5 billion (including associates), is centred around Kantar, the second largest data investment management network in the world after Nielsen.
