JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong has partnered with sculptor Richard X. Zawitz, unveiling its newly refurbished Level 34 as the Infinity Guestroom Floor. The launch coincides with a limited-time solo exhibition at the hotel, timed perfectly for Hong Kong’s vibrant Art Month this March.
In conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, GP Yeow, general manager of JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, said Zawitz is not only a sculptor; he is a philosophical artist whose work is inspired by concepts of Tao and Zen, encouraging reflection and inspiring focus.
"This aligns perfectly with JW Marriott’s philosophy of nourishing mind, body, and soul, and providing holistic wellbeing experiences. By integrating Zawitz’s creations into our specialty rooms and suites, we are elevating and enriching the experience for our guests."
The transformation of the floor redefines the luxury hotel experience in the city, blending contemporary hospitality with immersive art to create a sanctuary of harmony and mindful living.
Long regarded as an urban oasis in the heart of Admiralty, JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong elevates its guest experience through Zawitz’s signature style, Curvism—a philosophy that merges the fluidity of curves with the Taoist and Zen traditions of Chinese thought. This vision is expressed across sculptures and furnishings throughout the floor.
The Pittsburgh-born artist skillfully incorporates steel—a nod to his hometown’s industrial roots—into forms that evoke infinity, conveying balance, flow, and positive energy throughout the guest journey.
As the first hotel in Hong Kong to dedicate an entire floor to the vision of a single artist, JW Marriott presents the Infinity Guestroom Floor as a tranquil retreat rooted in Zawitz’s themes of infinity and harmony. During Art Month, a curated selection of his works will also be exhibited on Level 3 of the hotel.
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by The Statue of Infinity in the lobby—a continuation of Zawitz’s first collaboration with the hotel in 2009. The piece sets the tone for the stay, embodying interconnectedness and JW Marriott’s commitment to fostering meaningful connections.
On Level 34, guests step onto the Infinity Guestroom Floor and are greeted by Infinite Child, a striking stainless steel sculpture that invites reflection and reconnection with one’s inner potential. Each guestroom and suite on the floor features a miniature version of the sculpture, along with a conceptual artbook chronicling the artist’s journey and a catalogue of his broader body of work.
The Infinity Suite by Richard X. Zawitz offers an immersive environment where art extends beyond the gallery. Flowing curves define the living area, bedroom, and bathroom. In celebration of the Year of the Horse, Zawitz introduces Infinite Horse, a sculpture symbolising success and forward momentum. His signature stainless steel forms appear in custom furniture—dining tables, chairs, and mirrors—balanced by radiant sunrise paintings that bring warmth and light to the cool metal.
The core concept is 'Living with Art’ – transforming a traditional hotel floor into a living gallery, Yeow added. "Zawitz’s signature Infinity sculptures embody movement and harmony. We have translated this vision into the design of our Infinity Guestroom Floor, reimagined as a sanctuary for the soul."
"With its inviting ambience, the Infinite Child sculpture that welcomes guests at the lift lobby, and the thoughtful integration of Zawitz’s sculptures and furnishings into the accommodation, the whole floor is designed to evoke a sense of balance. This collaboration is about curating a sensory journey where guests don't just view art; they live within it, nurturing their mind, body and soul."
‘This exciting collaboration embraces Hong Kong’s creative energy while bringing JW Marriott’s commitment to mindful luxury to life,’ said Yeow, general manager of JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong. ‘By transforming our Infinity Guestroom Floor into a living gallery, we invite our guests to immerse themselves in art that inspires reflection and connection, and creates a serene escape amidst the dynamic excitement of the city’s art scene.’
To amplify the collaboration, JW Marriott will host an offline launch event to boost and echo the collaborative spirit of Art Month apart from conventional promotion channels, including social media, press outreach and advertising, said Karen Ching, director of marketing communications of JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.
"The guests, including industry experts, influencers and media representatives, corporate clients, and valued Marriott Bonvoy members, will be among the first to unveil the Infinity Suite by Zawitz, as well as the gallery exhibition. A digital artbook narrating the stories behind the collaboration has been designed to reinforce our brand identity and immerse the guests in the world of art," she added.
