Authentic Brands Group (ABG), owner and manager of a global portfolio of iconic fashion, sports, celebrity and media brands, has acquired Tretorn, the Sweden-based, outdoor-lifestyle brand from sports company, PUMA.
Tretorn is best known of its Nylite shoes, and has collaborated with designers and specialty retailers, including Comme des Garçons, Richard James, Acne, J Crew, H&M, and more.
Trenton's acquisition displays the holding group’s keen expansion into sportswear, further branching out its range of brands. This latest acquisition marks the third one for ABG which had recently acquired lingerie brand Frederick's of Hollywood in June and women’s fashion label Jones New York in April.
These three brands join ABG’s Sports & Lifestyle roster that boasts global powerhouse brands including Juicy Couture, Spyder, Prince, and Tapout.
According to its website, ABG buys up intellectual property, invests in improving brand perception and works with licensing partners to bring them to retail.
ABG will implement a licensing strategy that preserves and leverages the authenticity of the Tretorn DNA. Emphasis will be on footwear, outerwear and tennis equipment for North America and Asia, which have been identified as key growth markets.
Jamie Salter, chairman and CEO, ABG, said, “Tretorn holds a unique place in the minds and hearts of consumers worldwide – from performance, to athleisure to style, Tretorn has made a statement on and off tennis courts for decades.”
