JOOX launches new season of podcast content

Hongkongers are getting used to podcasts as they can access a wide variety of topics. To further engage users, JOOX has rolled out a new season of podcast content with five programmes. 

These five programmes consist of a talk show (巴絲打·飛機夢), ghost-hunting programme (你又嚇我唔到), lifestyle episode (品味監製Edward Chan), and two programmes about gaming and Japanese content (日本毒龍鑽) along with relationships (情侶愛情信箱). 

JOOX said after the launch of JOOX Podcast in Hong Kong last year, there was as many as 200,000 unique visitors listening to podcasts on its platform within a week. JOOX also cited a study from Grand View Research, suggesting that the global podcasting market size valued at US$9.28 billion in 2019 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 27.5% from 2020 to 2027.

During the pandemic, listeners worldwide are observed to be spending more time at home due to work-from-home and social distancing policies. Such phenomenon has changed the entire dynamics of the market for podcasts as listeners used to listen to broadcasts during their commute. The industry is now expected to grow with engaged listeners who are stuck indoors while working from home. 

Currently, JOOX Podcast is available in various markets, including Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
