Jollibee is putting a playful spin on the viral dating trend of calling out relationship “red flags”, using witty in-store flaglets to promote its Spicy Chickenjoy in the Philippines.

The campaign, titled “The only red flag you want”, brings the online trend into the dining experience, inviting customers to take photos with the red flaglets and share them on social media.

The activation also gained traction on X, where “JOLLY RED FLAG” trended as netizens joined in and shared the humour behind the campaign.

The flaglets feature tongue-in-cheek messages that turn the idea of relationship red flags into something worth embracing, including “Red flag na laging available for you” (“A red flag who’s always available for you”), “Red flag na pwede ipakilala sa friends mo” (“A red flag you can introduce to your friends”), and “Red flag worth saying ‘yes’ to.”

“We’ve seen how much our customers enjoy joining online trends and creating their own content, even when they’re dining in our stores. We wanted to bring that same fun to their Spicy Chickenjoy experience through these playful flaglets, giving them something to enjoy, take photos of, and share with their friends,” said Dorothy Ching, vice president for marketing of Jollibee Philippines.

Through the activation, Jollibee combines product promotion with a social media-friendly dining experience, encouraging customers to participate in a familiar online conversation while enjoying its spicy fried chicken.

The special flaglets are available from 15 October to 15 November, or while stocks last, at 54 participating Jollibee stores nationwide in the Philippines.

Customers can take part by picking up a flaglet, choosing their favourite message and sharing photos or videos online using the hashtag #TheOnlyRedFlagIWant.

Previously, Jollibee introduced Chickenjoy Sarap Savers, a value-focused meal range featuring its signature fried chicken in complete meal combinations. Fronted by longtime brand ambassador Belle Mariano, the campaign targeted budget-conscious consumers seeking satisfying everyday meals.

The brand had also tapped Anne Curtis for its “Jollibee Chickenjoy: Masterfully made sarap” campaign, highlighting the craftsmanship behind the product and its cultural significance among Filipinos.
