Johnson's Baby puts toddler-parent bond at the heart of its relaunch

Johnson's Baby puts toddler-parent bond at the heart of its relaunch

Johnson's Baby has launched one of its largest brand refreshes in recent years in Malaysia, partnering with Fishermen Integrated on a campaign that shifts the focus from product updates to an emotional truth about parenting.

The "Selamanya si manja Anda" (Always your baby) campaign, created for Kenvue Malaysia & Singapore, accompanies the relaunch of Johnson's Baby's Classics, Milk + Rice and Bedtime ranges with refreshed branding and formulations. Rather than positioning the relaunch around packaging or ingredients, the campaign centres on the idea that although toddlers appear increasingly independent, they still require gentle care.

The campaign also seeks to educate parents that toddlers' skin and hair remain delicate - up to 30% thinner than an adult's - even after they have outgrown infancy.

"As babies grow, their skin and hair are still delicate and require gentle, safe yet effective care," said Frances Anne Velante, head of marketing, Kenvue Malaysia & Singapore. "Through this meaningful relaunch with Fishermen Integrated, we want to reassure parents that Johnson's Baby continues to evolve alongside their growing children, with carefully developed formulations that support gentle care every step of the way."

The creative strategy was built around the tension between toddlers' growing independence and parents' instinct to continue nurturing them.

Its hero film follows a confident toddler imitating adults throughout the day before abandoning his grown-up persona when called for bath time, running back into his mother's arms. The moment reinforces the campaign's core message that children may grow up quickly, but they never stop being their parents' babies.

Rather than leading with functional product claims, Fishermen Integrated chose to anchor the campaign in a relatable emotional insight.

"We weren't selling a relaunch. We were reminding parents of something they already feel," said Andrew Tan, executive creative director at Fishermen Integrated. "Our job was to take a real product truth and wrap it in an emotional one. The moment that toddler runs back to his mum, the whole message lands. They grow up, but they never outgrow you."

The campaign extends beyond film into experiential and social activations. Fishermen Integrated and Johnson's Baby hosted an immersive #SelamanyaSiManjaAnda launch event attended by media, parenting influencers, healthcare professionals and families, while influencer partnerships form part of a "Letter to my baby" content series featuring parent creators sharing personal reflections and promises to their children.

According to the agency, the approach aims to transform a brand message into authentic, parent-led storytelling while reinforcing Johnson's Baby's relevance beyond the infant stage.

"The hardest campaigns to crack are the ones built on something everyone already knows but no one has said simply," said Joyce Gan, partner and group brand head at Fishermen Integrated. "Selamanya si manja Anda gave parents permission to keep babying their babies, and gave Johnson's Baby a reason to stay relevant and meaningful in the home long after the first birthday."
