Singapore-based conglomerate Jardine Matheson is reportedly planning to sell KFC and Pizza Hut franchises in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Vietnam. Multiple reports including Bloomberg said Jardine Matheson is considering selling its subsidiary Jardine Restaurant Group. Jardine Matheson already began preliminary discussions with advisers but deliberations are still at an early stage. However, no decision has emerged and the group may decide to keep the division.

According to the conglomerate's website, it is also one of Yum’s largest international franchisees, with operations under the Pizza Hut brand in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Vietnam and Myanmar, together with operations under the KFC brand in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Vietnam. Jardine Restaurant Group employs more than 27,000 staff and operates more than 900 stores across all markets. Jardine Matheson also has other brands operating in Hong Kong such as DFI Retail Group that runs Wellcome, Mannings, 7-Eleven and IKEA.

Previously, Jardine Restaurant Group appointed FleishmanHillard as its corporate communications agency in Hong Kong and Macau. In this appointment, FleishmanHillard represents Jardine Restaurant Group in media relations and corporate communications matters.

Meanwhile, it's also reported that Jardine Matheson is planning to sell Greatview Aseptic Packaging Company, an aseptic processing company with its head office based in Beijing. The Standard said it is exploring options including a sale of its roughly 28% stake, adding that is working with JPMorgan Chase on a strategic review for its shares. Other options include a broader strategic partnership, hoping to boost synergies in areas such as sourcing raw materials.

According to Greatview Aseptic Packaging's website, it supplies goods and services to the aseptic liquid food industry with cost-effective carton packaging materials, filling machines and spare parts. Greatview employs more than 1,600 people across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa, the Middle East and Oceania, producing and selling more than 10 billion cartons each year. Its customer base consists of national and multi-national dairy, juice and beverage producers in more than 50 countries.
