Ivanka Trump (pictured) has ceased operations of her seven-year-old label under her name. This was in a bid to focus on her work as an advisor with her father, President Donald Trump. According to media reports, Trump has stated that she made this decision as she sees the “foreseeable future” in her work in Washington D.C. The Ivanka Trump brand had initially opened a store of its own at Trump Tower for consumers to directly purchase the line. However, several media sites have cited the declining business that the label was facing due to Trump’s political background. Some of the brands that phased out the label were Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Hudson’s Bay, among many  others. In a previous statement to media outlets, Nordstrom said that the move was based solely on “performance”. The company stated that it has over 2000 brands offered on the site alone, and each year the company review its merits and makes ‘edits’.“Each year we cut about 10% and refresh our assortment with about the same amount. In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season,” the statement read. However, this move did not go down too well with Donald Trump. Expressing his displeasure over this move, Trump lashed out at the company on Twitter. My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person -- always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 8, 2017(Photo courtesy: 123RF)
