Calvin Yeap, former head of marketing at online payment gateway iPay88, has joined Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as manager, eCommerce, enablers and demand generation, according to his LinkedIn. Yeap (pictured) was with iPay88 for more than three years and was responsible for strategising and leading a range of marketing activities. His role placed a strong emphasis on fostering close collaboration and strategic partnerships with different financial partners, industry associations and regulatory bodies, his LinkedIn added.

Aside from his role at iPay88, Yeap also led the corporate marketing team for the global payments and services division of Japanese company NTT Data Corporation. Yeap oversaw the global branding of NTT Data cards and payment services through the ideation and implementation of various strategic corporate communication and PR strategies. According to his LinkedIn, his role, among others, required him to lead a wide range of activities across Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and China. Yeap also oversaw activities for NTT Data's group of companies, including iPay88, Payoo in Vietnam, Aino in Indonesia, and ATOM in India. Yeap has also worked at Zyllem, Amadeus Malaysia, Mobitrak, and INTI. A+M has reached out to Yeap, MDEC and iPay88 for comment.

In March this year, MDEC launched the #DigitalvsCOVID campaign with 80 Malaysian tech companies offering services on a pro-bono basis or discounted rates to SMEs during this period of economic uncertainty. Among the list of primary concerns cited by SMEs include business continuity, employee well-being and macro or socioeconomic support. That same month, MDEC also tied up with the IMAM Response and Relief Team and local crowdfunding platforms to roll out a donation drive to help supply safety equipments for Malaysia's COVID-19 pandemic frontline officers.

Separately, MDEC promoted Raymond Siva earlier this year to the role of CMO, overlooking the 31-strong brand and strategic partnerships division. This includes brand marketing and partnerships, strategic communications, digital and experiential. He first joined MDEC in 2019 as senior advisor, communications and marketing.
