INNOCEAN Malaysia appoints new creative and social agency for Kia Malaysia

Following the success of Kia Malaysia's "Why Kia?" relaunch campaign, INNOCEAN Malaysia has appointed independent agency BLWN as its latest creative and social agency for Kia Malaysia.

Under the appointment, BLWN will oversee strategy, creative development, brand and tactical campaigns, as well as social media management for the brand. They will handle the creative and social provision for INNOCEAN Malaysia and Kia Sales Malaysia.

The expanded partnership follows the launch of Kia Malaysia's "Why Kia?" campaign in late 2025, which was developed by BLWN as the automotive brand prepared for its transition into a direct principal-led operating model.

Fronted by a bold "Why Kia?" billboard, the campaign generated widespread conversation online and significant traction across social media, helping reintroduce the brand to Malaysian consumers ahead of its official relaunch.

The campaign coincided with a major business shift for Kia in Malaysia. In January 2026, Kia Sales Malaysia transitioned from a distributor-led arrangement to a standalone national sales organisation operating directly under Kia Asia Pacific headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

As part of the relaunch, BLWN was tasked with localising Kia's global "Movement that inspires" brand philosophy for the Malaysian market.

Since then, the relationship between the three parties has evolved beyond a relaunch effort into a broader brand-building mandate. Together, Kia Malaysia, Innocean Malaysia and BLWN have rolled out a series of initiatives aimed at attracting new customers while deepening engagement with existing owners.

These efforts have included campaigns and activations focused on celebrating the ownership journey, reinforcing customer confidence and strengthening connections between the brand and its community.

The move reflects Kia Malaysia's ambitions to build long-term brand equity and enhance customer experience as it continues to expand its presence in the local market.

With the retainer appointment now formalised, BLWN will continue supporting Kia Malaysia's next phase of growth through integrated communications, creative storytelling, social media engagement and customer-centric initiatives.

Last year, Kia had selected Sticky Rice, an agency under Trapper Group as its social media agency to handle its APAC account, as reported by A+M. The agency continues to provides a comprehensive suite of social media services for Kia APAC. This was the first engagement of a social media agency by Kia APAC, represented by their master agency, INNOCEAN Malaysia.

And in February this year, INNOCEAN renewed its global media partnership with Havas Media Network following an internal review covering Hyundai Motor Group brands across key international markets.

INNOCEAN is the master agency for the auto brands under Hyundai Motor Group in Malaysia, namely for Kia APAC, Kia Sales Malaysia and Hyundai Motor Malaysia.
