Malaysia Airports has launched the iButterfly Asia iPhone and iPad app created by Denstu to boost retail and F&B sales at its international airports. The launch of the new mobile information and coupon technology is part of the company's 'Indulge Till You Fly' campaign.Throughout the campaign period which lasts until January next year, 10 virtual butterflies will be released in the airports for consumers to 'catch' them. The butterflies can be seen through the iPhone/iPad2 camera viewfinder by swinging the iPhone like a butterfly net which once ‘captured' will provide information on the offer the butterfly holds. Each participating retailer has a uniquely designed butterfly which contains a different discount coupon, product offering and promotion.Once users capture the butterflies, they will be able to redeem them for free beverage and exclusive gifts from participating retailers at KL International Airport (KLIA)/LCCT-KLIA, Langkawi International Airport, Penang International Airport, Kuching International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.Delifrance Café & Bakery, L'Occitane and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf are the partner brands for the campaign with more retailers expected to come on board soon.Designed by Dentsu Digital Asia the app combines augmented reality, global positioning system and motion sensors aiming to give customers an entertaining platform to enjoy the offerings through a mobile information and coupon technology.Faizah Khairuddin (pictured), senior general manager commercial services of Malaysia Airports said: "iButterfly Asia underpins perfectly our overall goal of exciting and rewarding visitors and travellers; to get them to see airports as retail and lifestyle destinations."A TVC promoting the campaign has also been launched together with an 'Indulge & Win' contest where consumers who spend a minimum of RM250 and complete a contest entry form, can take part.
